Webhostinginformation.net

August 21st, 2007

I just stumbled upon a very useful blog called webhostinginformation.net. Lets face it. There are billions of websites on the internet today, and that number is increasing with several thousand new ones every single day. If you do not already own a domain and a website, you probably will sometime in the future. I think owning a website will become just as common as wearing pants.

There is no reason to think that the web hosting companies will be out of work anytime soon. But, of course, because of the incredible huge market potential, the web hosting companies have popped up like a plague. So how do you know which company to choose?

This is where webhostinginformation.net comes into the picture. On their blog you will find a huge amount of information and reviews of different web hosting companies. Obviously I already have a company that does this for me, but it was a pretty random choice. Had I known about this blog earlier on, my choice might have been different.

On webhostinginformation.net you can search for web hosting companies that fits your needs. You can search by price, storage space, platform and rating. It can be extremely useful to find out what other users say about a company. The chances of being scammed, or become a customer of a company with bad customer service are minimal.

So if you are thinking about starting your own website, be sure to pay them a visit before deciding who you want to have as a host.

Here is a great video that will help you to better understand The Law of Attraction. The video is is picked up from http://www.mygenie.tv/. I find the music a little anoying, but the text is what is important.

The question in the headline is mostly aimed at myself. But I think everyone, from time to time, should ask them selves the same. Are you really doing the best you possibly can?

Lack of inspiration
The reason I ask myself this question is because I have been experiencing a lack of inspiration lately. Lack of inspiration is something I would rather not experience at all, but especially not right now. The Personal Development Blog is still so young and I am working hard to get it established. But am I working hard enough? Am I giving it my absolute best?

I know that the best way to attract a loyal readership is to create good content. I think that for an article to be good, it needs to contain information that is not easily found elsewhere on the internet. So that is what I need to focus on in the future.

In spite of my lack of inspiration, I have actually seen an increase of readers on this blog. It makes me very happy to see that Personal Development is important to so many people. It also makes me feel that I have a responsibility towards all of you.

Positive feedback
One thing that really motivates me is feedback from my readers. I have received a lot of it since I started the free eBook service, and later on, this blog. Just reading all the positive feedback makes me all warm inside. It looks like I have actually made an impact on someones lives.

Here are just a few of them wich I have received by email:

“This is venkatesh from india.I am very much thankful to you for your free personaldevelopmentbooks.”

“Thank you so much for your faithful supply of Personal

Development eBooks. The books are helpful, and I’m now
better than I was. I’m looking foward to hear from you soon. Thank you.”

“I received all books and gone through. All the books are mind blowing. Actually, before reading all this book my mind was wandering, now I am some controlling my mind and concentrating in one subject at time. Thanks for helping people. My sincere thanks to you. Hope u will send more books.”

“I would like to know from whom should I get the permission to translate these books or any other book I would receive in the future from you to Arabic language? If the book is too old and it’s not possible to contact the author or the publisher can I get the permission from you? As you know it is not possible to publish any translated book here in Saudi Arabia unless there is a permission.”

“Thanks a lot for your free books. I found it very usefull and meaningfull..in much time i shared those with people who was down…the books are inspiring…
I believe SHARING mean adding not losing (If i share with someone else i would add meaning to that person and add my lifevalue…i never lose anything cause of sharing)
I think i learn that  from you indirectly.”

“Just a quick note to say thanks for the books.
I really do appreciate the help!”

“Hi Jarle,
Its great!
Thank you for the opportinuty to have access to so much of knowledge.”

“Hi Jarle
I’m just back from reading your blog. It’s fantastic.
I have been receiving your free Personal Development Ebooks for about 2
months and while I do want to read and study them I find myself
with a very bad case of Information Overload. So I download the books and
print them out, with every intention of reading them but alas I still have a
pile of unread books. Suppose I should build reading ebooks into my Goal
Setting.”

My promise to you
Reading through all the feedback is extremely motivating for me. It makes me realize that I need to do better. I need to get all this incredibly valuable information out to more people. I will promise you this: I will do my absolute best to accomplish that.

Will you too do the best you possibly can to reach your goals?

Increase your Technorati-rank

August 15th, 2007

I just stumbled upon this opportunity to increase my blogs technorati rankings. It is reported from several other blogers that it works very well. If you want to try it on our own blog just copy the text below and follow the instructions.

==Copy and Paste below this line====

Instructions:

1.) Copy and paste the matrix of “ViralTags” below courtesy of Founders Cafe.

2.) Substitute the Host Tag and one of the “Viral Tags” in the matrix with your anchor text of choice with your blog’s URL. Please keep anchor text to a max of 3 words to keep the matrix size manageable.

3.) When you get a ping back from someone that has your link in one of their “Viral Tags”, practice good karma by copying his/her Host Tag’s anchor text (automatically the associated link will also be copied) and paste it over one of your “Viral Tags” below.

4.) Encourage and invite your readers to do the same and soon this can grow virally.

As more and more bloggers copy and paste this matrix, the more backlinks you will have with your anchor text. If everybody who copy and paste from your blog does the same, pretty soon this will spread and go viral. So, the sooner you participate, the more links with anchor text you will receive.

Link - Minesweeper

August 14th, 2007

I think laughter is a very important part of our life. Consider this my contribution to make YOU laugh :-)

If you have ever played the game minesweeper you will understand what I am talking about.

http://www.neomeme.net/2007/08/07/we-need-more-movies-based-on-video-games/

I have now set a date for the QSSE-Project (quit smoking, start exercising) to start. The date will be September the 1st. This means that I have 20 days for mental preparation.

I know that most of you out there are non-smokers, and that you will think that this post is not for you. That is not true. I will create a series of posts on the QSSE-Project, both in the stage of mental preparation and afterwards. Anyone with a bad habit they want to get rid of should consider joining me.

Below I have listed some of the health benefits I will get when I quit smoking:

20 min: Blood pressure and pulse return to normal.

8 hrs:  Nicotine and carbon monoxide levels in blood reduce by half. Oxygen levels return to normal.

- 24 hrs: Carbon monoxide will be eliminated from the body. Lungs start to clear out mucous and other smoking debris.

48 hrs: There is no nicotine left in the body. Ability to taste and smell is greatly improved.

72 hrs: Breathing becomes easier. Bronchial tubes begin to relax and energy levels increase.

2-12 weeks: Circulation improves.

3-9 months: Coughs, wheezing and breathing problems improve as lung functions are increased by up to 10%.

5 years: Risk of heart attack falls to about half that of a smoker.

10 years: Risk of lung cancer falls to about half that of a smoker. Risk of heart attack falls to the same as someone who has never smoked.

(Source: http://www.quit-smoking-stop.com)

And here is a list of the benefits of being a smoker:

- NONE.

What about excercise? Well, here are some benefits you will get if you start exercising regularly:

- Increase levels of HDL or “good” cholesterol.

- Lower high blood pressure.

- Help improve body composition by burning fat.

- Promote healthy blood sugar levels.

- Promote bone density.

- Boost the immune system.

- Improve mood and reduce the chance of depression.

(Source: http://hcd2.bupa.co.uk/fact_sheets/html/exercise.html)

About the benefits.

Well, considering the benefits I will get by giving up the sigarette and start exercising, I would be a fool not to take action. I have been a fool long enough. Why wouldn’t I want a longer life? Why wouldn’t I want to reduce the risk for lung cancer or heart attacks? Why wouldn’t I want to be able to taste and smell better? Why wouldn’t I want my lungs to function at its best?

Why wouldn’t we all want to be as healthy as possible in any way possible?

If you are a smoker, I challenge you to hop on board with me. If you are not exercising, I challenge you to join me, starting September the 1st.

The History of Backup

August 10th, 2007

On the website The History of Backup you will find detailed information about data backup through the years. Did you know that the first backups were made on punch cards? This was back in the 1950’s. Punch cards were slow to use and had very low capacity, and in the 1960’s they were gradually replaced by magnetic tape.

The hard drive was introduced in 1956, but because of the high price, it was not suitable for backups for the next couple of decades.

The History of Backup also shows how people store data on their computers and the need for backing it up. Furthermore you will find statistics on data loss. In 2003 there was 4,607,100 episodes of data loss. These were caused by hardware failure, human error, software corruption, computer viruses, theft and hardware destruction.

If you want to know more about different solutions for data backup you should take a look at The History of Backup. The website also provides links to companies that offer solutions for backup, as well as links to guide you on how to find the best backup medium for you.

My favorite Charity

August 7th, 2007

I have been asked to write about my favorite charity. That’s not an easy thing to do. There are so many good people and causes in this world, and it was really hard to choose just one to write about.

After a lot of research I ended up with an organization Asha for Education. The organization was founded back in 1991, and today there are 66 chapters worldwide. More than a thousand active volunteers are involved. Another great about Asha for Education is that the president, Anand Raghavan, is also a volunteer. He doesn’t take a single dime away from the children they are supporting. Wow!

Asha for Education is focusing on providing basic education for underprivileged children in India. By doing this they hope to help make a sosio-economic change in the country. To date Asha for Education has supported about 385 different projects all over India. More than $4 million has been spend on these projects.

What can I say? I think helping children to get an education is a very important cause to support. After all the children are our future.
