The Personal Development Blog

Increase your Technorati-rank

August 15th, 2007

I just stumbled upon this opportunity to increase my blogs technorati rankings. It is reported from several other blogers that it works very well. If you want to try it on our own blog just copy the text below and follow the instructions.

==Copy and Paste below this line====

Instructions:

1.) Copy and paste the matrix of “ViralTags” below courtesy of Founders Cafe.

2.) Substitute the Host Tag and one of the “Viral Tags” in the matrix with your anchor text of choice with your blog’s URL. Please keep anchor text to a max of 3 words to keep the matrix size manageable.

3.) When you get a ping back from someone that has your link in one of their “Viral Tags”, practice good karma by copying his/her Host Tag’s anchor text (automatically the associated link will also be copied) and paste it over one of your “Viral Tags” below.

4.) Encourage and invite your readers to do the same and soon this can grow virally.

Host Tag: The Personal Development Blog

Important: Once I get a ping back from you, I will add your anchor text and the associated link you designate as “Host Tag” here, replacing one of the “ViralTags” from the matrix above. As more and more bloggers copy and paste this matrix, the more backlinks you will have with your anchor text. If everybody who copy and paste from your blog does the same, pretty soon this will spread and go viral. So, the sooner you participate, the more links with anchor text you will receive.

I’ve been having a lot of fun researching keywords lately.  This is something that have really paid of for me. There is no reason what so ever why you can’t produce the exact same results as me. You could write an article that shows up at the #1 spot on Google in 2-14 days.

Here is a link to a tool you can use for keyword research:
http://www.inspiredhost.com//keysearch/research.php

What you need to do is to find low competition keywords. When you have located some keywords with a high search volume, but with few hits on google (less than 5000), you’re ready to go. Now, write an article and put some of the low competition keywords in the article text. Submit the article to www.ezinearticles.com and voila… A few days later your article should show up on the first page of google.

I would really appreciate it if you would post your results in the comment field of this article.

Here is a list of some of the search strings that currently make my articles show up on the first page of Google:

live like die tomorrow (#1)
how millionaires go broke (#1)
live like tomorrow I will die (#1)
free personal development books (#2)
Great Authors of the past (#1)
great writers of the past (#1)
personal development free ebooks (#9)
free personal development ebooks (#6)
Don’t leave for tomorrow what you can do today (#10)

Feel free to try ou these searches and verify the rankings for yourself.

Below are some of the search strings I plan to use in upcoming articles. I will submit these articles at Ezinearticles.com. This will produce more first page rankings for my articles on Google. I will post the results as they are produced.

“ebook resale right” has 1694 monthly searches and produces 554 hits in google.

“free book review” has 2612 monthly searches and produces 883 hits in google.

“free child book” has 1079 monthly searches and produces 5370 hits in google.

“free wedding planner book” has 9587 monthly searches and produces 5250 hits in google.

“personal development seminar” has 261 monthly searches and produces 931 hits in google.

“self improvement seminar” has 141 monthly searches and produces 918 hits in google.

“how to start your own computer business” has 1196 monthly searches and produces 610 hits in google.

I have done some keyword research lately. My goal was to locate search strings that are heavily searched for, but don’t get a lot of hits in Google.

Here is the reason I want to do this:
If you are lucky (clever) enough to write an article that contains a search string that is widely searched for, and also generate few hits, you could easily be on the first page on Google. A lot of the search strings I found surprised me a lot.

Scroll down to the end of this article to read my conclusion.

Here is what I found when I researched the word “blog” (Sorted by Search string, number of searches each month, and hits on Google):

My conclusion

Some of the searches above are displayed with bold text. Those are the ones you need to pay attention to. Write an article that contains any of those search strings and post it on Ezinearticles.com. If you do, that article will show up on the first page on Google. Just use your imagination, and you will see how easy it can be to write articles that contains weird search strings.

As you can see from the amount of searches you could get a great deal of traffic by consentrating on weird search strings. Obviously not all the searches listed here are manually typed by humans every month. A lot of them are auto searches created when people click on links.

Traffic Building Experiment

June 17th, 2007

This post is for all you bloggers out there.

If you follow the instructions below, the traffic to your blog should start to pick up very quickly. If you think you can handle thousands of fresh visitors to your blog every day, please keep on reading.

The idea of this experiment is to make this blogpost go viral. As you can see, the name and web-address of this blog is at the number one spot on the list below. What you need to do is to copy this post and bounce every blog one line down. Then you must put your own blog on the number one spot. The blog on the number five spot will be bounced of the list.

When you have done this you’ll have to display this post on your own blog. If you have done this right you will have an exact copy of this post, with your blog at the number one spot. When others read the post on your site they will do the same, and your blog will go one line down. By the time your blog is displayed at the number five spot, your link will be displayed on thousands of blogs.

Are you ready to go viral?

How to get traffic - Part 2

June 11th, 2007

The world

In part 1 of this article I mentioned two traffic generating methods I am currently using:

- Create original content (I think this is the most important method to use long term).
- Linkreferral

In part 2 I will show let you know a few other steps you could take to attract traffic to your website or blog.

In the “how to get traffic” article series I will mainly focus on free methods.

Write lots of articles

Writing articles is one of the most powerful methods you can use to attract visitors. Sadly, I neglected writing articles for a long time. After I discovered how easy it is to attract visitors this way I now write at least one article every single day. Don’t worry if you think your writing sucks. You’ll come around with a little practice. If you don’t write articles you are literally waving goodbye to thousands of visitors every month.

Lets just say that each article you write attract 10 visitors a month. Some articles will atract less visitors and some will atract more. But the average might be around 10 visitors a month. If you commit your self to write one article every day, that adds up to 365 articles in one year. 365 X 10 = 3650. This means that writing just one article a day for a year will give you 3650 fresh visitors every single month for years to come. What if you could write two articles a day? Or three??

The three most important article-directories you should post your articles to are:

- Ezinearticles

- GoArticles

- SearchWarp

Google just love these directories. If you do this right (I know you will) your articles will show up on the first page of google in no time.
Tip: Try to target low competition keywords.

If you post one or more articles a day to one of those article-directories you should be seeing results very fast. I have not written articles for a very long time yet but it is my main method of attracting visitors to my website.

That’s it for today. I will be back with more advice on how to generate traffic, so be sure to check back often (or subscribe to the feed).

I like this article

The world

This blog is still new so naturally there is no real traffic to it yet. But it is a fact that if you want your blog or website to survive among the billions of others you’ll have to be able to attract traffic. Lots and lots of it. I have gained some experience through trial and error in the past. It would be a pleasure for me to share it with you all.

I only have experience with generating traffic to a website, so it will be an interesting experiment to see if the same methods can be transferred to this blog.

The main thing you’ll need to have, if you are going to attract traffic to your blog or website, is content. It is not enough to just use articles from all the article directories out there. You will need to create real and original content. It is of course a good idea if the content you create also have some sort of a value to the readers. I have decided that the main purpose of this blog will be to create original content within all the areas of personal development. But I will also, occasionally, write articles in other categories. Like this one. When you create good and original content, people will want to subscribe to, or link to your blog.

When you first start to research how you can get more traffic, you will discover that there are a lot of information you really can’t trust. I have tried it all. You have the viral sites that claim to be able to give you a million visitors a month. You will also stumble upon tons of banner/ad exchange networks that make the same claims. This just is not true. No one can attract millions of visitors to a low/non traffic website over night. You will also be offered to buy traffic. I have done this and I can’t tell you how disapointed I was. It was a total waste of my hard earned money. Do not buy traffic unless you are 100% sure of what you are doing. I have also tried some of the traffic exchange networks (the ones where you have to surf others websites in exchange for credits). This is a method that actually can create a great deal of traffic for you. But the problem with this is that the visitors are not interested in your website. They are only interested in getting their credits. With that said, there is one traffic exchange network I know of that actually works pretty good.

Linkreferral is a traffic exchange network with a different approach. They have some interesting features that you should take a look at. If you do it right you will end up getting a lot of reviews on your blog or website. If you log in every day and review a few websites your self, you will get 20-30 visitors every day. I have gained quite a few subscribers for my free ebook service through linkrefferal.

I don’t want to make this article to long, so I’ll just stop for today. Check back later for more traffic generating methods that actually works.
